Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weisman and his wife were at home in New Jersey Thursday when they received a call from the NFL saying they were traded to the Los Angeles Rams for a fifth-round pick, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Weisman, who turns 26 on Sunday, had been a starter in Los Angeles for five seasons.

He is the only quarterback in franchise history to be traded to two teams in the same season, joining Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Steve Young and Tim Tebow.

The Rams, who have the No. 8 pick in the NFL draft, sent the fifth-rounder to the Browns for quarterback Jared Goff and defensive end Jordan Hill.

They had the No!

8 overall pick.

Weeden was an undrafted free agent in 2015 after signing a four-year, $11 million contract with the Browns.

He started in 10 games in 2016 and started in three games in 2017.

We was not available to speak to the media at the time of the trade.

Weisons wife, Lacey, was on her way to visit her father in the hospital.

Weisi said he was “totally shocked” and was looking forward to his future in Los, but added he was not “going to say a thing about what happened.”

The Browns will not officially announce the trade until Friday morning, when the league and the NFLPA will announce the terms.

“I am very disappointed with the way it happened,” Weisengs wife, the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, said on the Today show.

“We are happy to be home with our family.

The rest of the team has been awesome to us, and I am just looking forward and going to miss our daughter, my little girl, and all of the family.

She is a big part of my life.

“There is going-to-be-no-issues with us and with the Rams,” Weisman said. “

“Hopefully, we can come together and come together as a group and have a really great team, a team that will make us successful.” “

Weisens dad, Mike, who has been an outspoken supporter of Weisman’s since his rookie season, was asked if the trade was a shock.

“Brandon is a good guy,” he said.

He said he knew of the Browns trade talks and was not surprised.

“It is a bad trade for the Browns,” he added.

“They are going to go after our quarterback.

The team that we have had in Cleveland, the fans, the stadium, everything. “

When you trade a quarterback, you want to win a championship, and it was a bad deal for us.

It was a terrible trade for us.”

Weisman was the Browns starter in 2016 after making his pro debut for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014.

He threw for 4,092 yards and 23 touchdowns in his first two seasons with the team.

He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Browns in 2017, and has been a reliable starter since his return.
